Ronald Jones :: Player Page
Smitty’s Take: No surprise here, as Royce Freeman has been our third-ranked 2018 rookie rusher behind only Saquon Barkley and Ronald Jones. That order remains the same in my eyes, although Freeman could certainly close in on Jones fast if he keeps ripping off 30-yard touchdowns (he had four carries for 38 yards and a touchdown in the preseason opener). Don’t worry about Ronald Jones just yet, as so many are jumping ship when it comes to ranking him in that 1.02-1.03 rookie mix. He and Freeman are both capable of being top 20 overall fantasy football player’s by season’s end. Jones is working on pass protection, and despite what many called a disappointing Week 1 preseason outing (eight rushers for nine yards and 1TD), the guy looked super-strong on his TD run, so I am not worried about Jones at all. Freeman will likely see a HUGE bump in ADP value over the next week, so don’t expect to steal him away from anyone in 2018 and beyond.
