JuJu Smith-Schuster :: Player Page
Smitty’s Take: During the Steelers-Packers Week 2 Preseason game, a few players stood out on both sides. On the Packers’ side of the football, DeShone Kizer was impressive (178 yards/2TDs), as was Brett Hundley (77 yards passing, 12 yards/1TD rushing). Even more impressive was Jake Kumerow, who pulled in 3/114/1TD. It’s easy to assume Kumerow will get more run, but he’s currently fighting to make the 53-man roster, not the starting gig. Baby steps first…. Jimmy Graham is a starter, though, and he pulled in a nice eight-yard TD pass against the Steelers, and he is setup to have a double-digit TD season in 2018. On the Steelers’ side of the football, the most impressive player was without a doubt James Washington, who pulled in 5/114/2TDs, and one of those TDs was a big-time grab where he muscle an under thrown ball away in the end zone. Washington is a big-time talent, and if he was on any other roster, we’d have him competing for our 2nd- or third-ranked rookie WR from this 2018 NFL Draft class. With both Antonio Brown and JuJu Smith-Schuster set to dominate the WR targets, and with LeVeon Bell scheduled for 70-80 receptions, it’s tough seeing a MONSTER rookie season out of Washington. An injury could change that, but for now, curb expectations a bit, at least in terms of consistency, but for sure expect a couple big games. The question is, will you happen to play the guy the games he goes off? Steelers’ back-up RB James Conner looked fantastic in this one, with 57 yards and 1TD. Jaylen Samuels also looked great in the back-up role for PIT, as he ran for 38 yards and 1TD. I fully expect a 2,000-total-yard season out of Bell in 2018, but that Steelers’ offensive line is so good, both handcuffs are a must, and owning both cuffs without Bell is one of those sneaky strategies we recommend for non-Bell owners. Stashing properly, like this, can win leagues.
