Smitty’s Take: According to ESPN reporter Jamison Hensley, Ravens offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg has stated that QB Lamar Jackson has had accelerated improvement and is way ahead of the curve at this point. Jackson is growing on us, and honestly, he has “play maker” written all over him. I think if unleashed in the proper way, something along the lines of Joe Flacco starting for at least a couple weeks before getting hurt (or being benched due to poor play), Jackson could shine immediately at the NFL level. At a glance, the Ravens might not look like one of those teams that could completely surprise everyone in 2018, but the Jackson factor, mixed with defensive enhancements, it makes this team very sneaky this upcoming season. All four of their top receiving options in Michael Crabtree, John Brownn, Hayden Hurst and Willie Snead are new to the roster this season, which is unusual, so rapport-building is on the same level for both Flacco and Jackson. Keep Jackson in our breakout category for 2018, he really has grips of upside.
