NEWS: Kareem Hunt passes through waivers unclaimed; Hunt’s future in question

NEWS: This is not surprising news, that Kareem Hunt would go unclaimed.
Smitty’s Take: He can, in theory, sign with any team, but will remain on the NFL’s commissioner exempt list indefinitely, which is a polite way of saying that Roger Goodell decides when/if he plays again. As we wrote on when this happened, it would have been shocking for a team to go there and grab the guy off waivers, as it would create a PR nightmare. We don’t anticipate any team wanting to take on that kind of situation until the off-season, when some dust settles a bit. Given that Roger Goodell will decide his future, his 6-16 game ban will likely begin in 2019. This means that his return in before Week 7 is highly, highly unlikely, and his return after Week 6 is still very, very questionable. Spencer Ware didn’t have as big a game as many had hoped in Week 13, but don’t write him off yet for the bell cow role. KC added West, but that is more of a sign that Ware still has the keys to the line-up, and could still produce at least low-end RB1 numbers in 1-2 of the final 3 weeks of the 2018 fantasy football season. But, as this season has taught us, anything can happen.
