News: Josh Gordon reports to camp, awaits to be cleared

Smitty’s Take: Browns WR Josh Gordon reported to training camp, although he has yet to be cleared to practice. There is no timetable for this, nor do we have any indication as to when Gordon can hit the field. Many feel that things are on track with Gordon, and that Dez Bryant leaving Cleveland without a contract is proof of that. If we had to guess, Week 1 is not a long-shot for Gordon, but it shouldn’t be something fantasy owners count on. Jarvis Landry should be considered the top WR in Cleveland for 2018, but Gordon has more upside (but clearly he comes with more risk, way more risk). Overall, Baker Mayfield is looking a lot sharper than I predicted he would. I admit it, I underestimated how fast he could translate… still has a lot to prove, but he is on his way and he could have nice upside if/when he starts… I still like Tyrod Taylor more than most, and fantasy-wise he can score like a low-end QB1 in fantasy.. he may not throw for a ton, but he runs. Under Tyrod, the Browns could play well and win games. Under Mayfield, both Landry and Gordon could get enough targets, that’s the difference between Mayfield (if he keeps proving solid) and Taylor.
