    David Njoku TE, Cleveland Browns
Browns placed TE David Njoku (knee) on injured reserve.

Njoku worked behind rookie TE Harrison Bryant while available but still spiked 3/50/1 before leaving the game. Kevin Stefanski's Browns ran the second-highest rate of 12 personnel (one running back, two tight ends) in Week 1, leaving amply opportunity for Bryant to step in for Njoku as a deep league stash for the next three games. It's unclear if Njoku will be ready to go when available to be activated in Week 5.

Michael Thomas WR, New Orleans Saints
NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reports Michael Thomas suffered a high-ankle sprain in New Orleans' Week 1 win over the Buccaneers.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport adds that Thomas is "likely" to be listed as questionable ahead of New Orleans' Monday night contest against the Raiders. The star wideout had his ankle rolled up on while blocking for Latavius Murray late into the second half but isn't expected to miss time since the injury is reportedly "something he believes he can play through." Whether he'll be productive playing through injury, however, is a different story. Fantasy players should prioritize Tre'Quan Smith as Thomas' WR handcuff ahead of primetime.

Jets coach Adam Gase said Le'Veon Bell (hamstring) "could be out a couple weeks."

Hahaha, Gase wants it to be much longer than that.

    D'Andre Swift RB, Detroit Lions
D'Andre Swift (hip) was removed from the Week 1 injury report.

Swift is healthy enough to play after a full practice Friday. His role is the bigger concern, with Kerryon Johnson and potentially Adrian Peterson ahead of him. Swift may be part of a three-back committee to start the year.

Not quite healthy enough to catch the game winner though. DOH

    Adoree' Jackson DB, Tennessee Titans
Titans placed CB Adoree' Jackson (knee) on injured reserve.

Jackson was already ruled out for Week 1, but this ensures that he's sidelined through Week 3. He missed five games with a foot injury last year but still totaled 45 tackles and six pass breakups across 11 starts. Tennessee promoted CB Tye Smith in the interim.

    Jarrod Wilson DB, Jacksonville Jaguars
Jaguars placed S Jarrod Wilson on injured reserve.

The team signed CB Sidney Jones from the practice squad in a corresponding move. Wilson made three tackles on 63 snaps in Week 1 before being replaced by Andrew Wingard to close the game. He'll return to a starting role once activated.

Lane Taylor G, Green Bay Packers
Packers RG Lane Taylor suffered a season-ending knee injury in Week 1 against the Vikings.

Taylor suffered a season-ending biceps injury in practice last September and had battled back to earn a starting role on offense. Elgton Jenkins took over for right tackle Billy Turner on Sunday but will presumably bounce inside if Taylor is cleared for Week 2 against the Lions. This news is clearly heartbreaking for Taylor, who took a $3 million pay cut to return to the team this year.

George Kittle TE, San Francisco 49ers
49ers coach Kyle Shanahan said TE George Kittle suffered a knee sprain in Week 1 against the Cardinals.

He sustained it while leaping for a ball Jimmy Garoppolo sailed over his head in the first half. It's only Monday, but it sounds as if Kittle is shaping up to be a question mark ahead of Week 2. His availability in practice will be worth monitoring throughout the week.

  • I play Kittle owner next and Stenberger is his only other rostered TE atm so I'm okay with this for week 2

    Justin Coleman DB, Detroit Lions
Lions placed CB Justin Coleman (hamstring) on injured reserve.

Coleman suffered his injury in the second quarter against the Bears. He'll be eligible to return after the team's bye week when Detroit travels to Jacksonville in Week 6. Rookie Jeffrey Okudah and veteran CB Desmond Trufant are also battling hamstring injuries, likely leaving the Lions with practice squad bodies against the red hot Packers' offense in Week 2.

The initial diagnosis for RT Zach Banner is a torn ACL, per @TomPelissero. He’ll have an MRI to confirm the season-ending injury.

    Zach Banner T, Pittsburgh Steelers
NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reports the initial diagnosis for Steelers OT Zach Banner is a torn ACL.

He'll be moved to season-ending injured reserve in the coming days. Already short starters in the trenches with David DeCastro (knee) still recovering and his replacement, Stephen Wisniewski, suffering a torn pectoral on Monday night, Pittsburgh will revert to rookie RG Kevin Dotson and RT Chukwuma Okorafor in the interim. It's a disastrous situation for Benny Snell, who is expected to replace James Conner (ankle) in the short-term.

Le'Veon Bell RB, New York Jets
Jets placed RB Le'Veon Bell (hamstring) on injured reserve.

The report is via NFL Network's Kim Jones. As we know by now, Bell will be eligible to return in three weeks. In Bell's case, that will be Week 5 vs. Arizona. Frank Gore will be the "first man up" in Bell's absence, but it was actually Josh Adams who appeared to be Gang Green's lead back following Bell's injury. Lamical Perine is also due back soon from his ankle injury. Basically, it is a situation to avoid against the 49ers this week, though Gore is probably still the best FLEX dart throw. Even though it will not feel good, Bell should be held onto in 10-12 team re-draft leagues.

Drue Tranquill LB, Los Angeles Chargers
Chargers placed LB Drue Tranquill on injured reserve with a knee injury.

Whereas many 2020 I.R. placements will last for only three weeks, Tranquill's appears to be more traditional. He is in danger of missing the rest of the season after being carted in an ugly display Sunday against the Bengals. The No. 130 overall pick of last year's draft has a history of knee issues. He played five snaps before going down in Cincinnati.

Denzel Mims WR, New York Jets
Jets placed WR Denzel Mims (hamstrings) on injured reserve.

The Jets tried to wait things out with their second-round rookie but then he injured his other hamstring. He will now be ineligible to play before Week 5 against the Cardinals. SNY's Ralph Vacchiano reports the team is "worried the rookie will be a non-factor for the first half of the season, at least, even if he returns sooner." Yikes. It's only Week 2, but a full-blown dumpster fire appears to be breaking out in Florham Park.

Blake Cashman LB, New York Jets
Jets placed ILB Blake Cashman on injured reserve with a groin injury.

Cashman must now sit until at least Week 5 against Arizona. His injury leaves the Jets embarrassingly thin at inside linebacker. The No. 157 overall pick of the 2019 draft, Cashman missed most of his rookie campaign with a torn labrum. Gang Green's season is spiraling out of control after only one week.

Michael Thomas WR, New Orleans Saints
NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reports Michael Thomas (ankle) is expected to "miss several weeks."

Thomas' ankle injury is "worse than originally believed." It may be bad enough that Thomas has a short stint on the three-week injured reserve, but Thomas is the type of player to attempt to play through an injury. Still, fantasy managers have to assume he's out the next two weeks. It's a big blow to a Saints offense that goes as Thomas and Alvin Kamara go, especially with Drew Brees playing as a 41-year-old. While Thomas is sidelined, Emmanuel Sanders needs to be viewed as an upside WR3 with Tre'Quan Smith operating as a low-volume deep threat. Smith can be added to deep-league benches.

    Kahale Warring TE, Houston Texans
Texans placed TE Kahale Warring on injured reserve.

He will miss a minimum of three weeks. Although the 2019 third-rounder supposedly showed "improved route running" in training camp, he was limited to special teams in last Thursday's opener.

    Phillip Lindsay RB, Denver Broncos
NFL Network's Tom Pelissero confirms Phillip Lindsay's (turf toe) status is "in doubt" for Week 2 against the Steelers.

Pelissero reports Lindsay is getting a second opinion, but that there is "some optimism he won’t be out long." The Broncos' 1B back was going to have a brutal matchup even if he were ready to go. Now the question is if he is worth holding onto behind Melvin Gordon. The answer remains "yes" in 10-12 team leagues, but that will change if Lindsay is slapped with a multi-week recovery timeline. Royce Freeman is the next man up on the depth chart.

    Geno Atkins DL, Cincinnati Bengals
Bengals DTs Geno Atkins (shoulder) and Mike Daniels (groin) are out for Week 2 against the Browns.

The NFC North foes square off Thursday night in Cleveland. With Atkins and Daniels out, the Bengals will rely heavily on D.J. Reader and Christian Covington to play significant snaps inside. It's a boost to Nick Chubb's matchup as a six-point home favorite.

    John Brown WR, Buffalo Bills
John Brown (foot) isn't practicing Wednesday.

Brown played 93 percent of snaps in Buffalo's Week 1 win over the Jets. Any foot injury is a concern for a deep threat like Brown. This could potentially open up targets for Gabriel Davis, who would step into a top-three role if Brown doesn't play this week.

    As @wh0urdady reported.....

Chris Godwin WR, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Chris Godwin is in the league's concussion protocol.

Uh oh. Godwin didn't show symptoms Monday or Tuesday but is now under the surveillance of concussion specialists. Coach Bruce Arians said the team will be "very cautious" with Godwin. Fantasy players need to be prepared to not have Godwin for Week 2 against the Panthers. The good news for Tampa is Mike Evans (hamstring) practiced Wednesday and "ran well," according to Arians. Scotty Miller would be a surefire WR3 play against lowly Carolina if Godwin sits.

    A.J. Bouye DB, Denver Broncos
Broncos placed CB A.J. Bouye (shoulder) on injured reserve.

He'll miss at least the next three games against the Steelers, Bucs, and Jets, boosting the matchups for JuJu Smith-Schuster, Diontae Johnson, Mike Evans, and Chris Godwin in that time. Bouye's shoulder is dislocated, but it doesn't require surgery. To replace him, the Broncos signed CB DeVante Bausby off their practice squad.
