Vampire Leagues

Have you heard of a Vampire League? Play in one?

I heard about this from an acquaintance at a conference last year.

The bare essential: One guy is the vampire. He does not get to draft a team. His team is made up of the waiver wire post draft. Everyone else drafts per usual. BUT, they are unable to trade or make waiver selections

Each week the vampire plays a team. If they win, they can select a player from the team that lost. There are several varieties at this point. Some get the entire team and the loser is out. Some select a single player and give one back.

Typically, short benches.

Would there be any interest in setting up something like this among you?

Ha. Interesting. I'm mostly worried if we'll have a season at ALL right now. Have two big drafts still coming up. But that sounds like a lot of fun. How short is the bench? I like the ONE player swap.

  • I played in one last year and enjoyed it. If the vampire gets an early win, he could start to bowl people over. However, that’s a huge “if”.

    13 roster spots - 8 starters

  • We’re doing redraft, but with a dynasty aspect. We have consolation tourneys during the playoffs where people can win Special abilities to be used in future years: (5 extra points in a chosen week, forcing your opponent’s player to sit that week, etc...) pretty fun!

Sounds complicated. I'm old. I'm simple. I still haven't done defensive players...ha ha

I haven't done any best ball teams yet this year, so maybe I have room for one more?

We can do this with 8. Ten would be preferable.

    Start the list:

I'd do it, as soon as we know we are actually having a season. I'd be down for low buy-in, $25-50.
