    Gregg Williams - C - Jets

Jets hired Gregg Williams as defensive coordinator.
Williams was somewhat of a laughingstock as Browns defensive coordinator in 2017, but he did a better job in 2018 as he served as interim head coach. Devoted to aggression and deep safety drops, Williams has coached just about everywhere and overseen some strong defenses, most famously the Super Bowl winning Saints in 2009. He has some interesting pieces to work with in New York, but he's inheriting a unit that was nothing special in 2018. He figures to butt heads with coach Adam Gase.

    Ed Donatell - C - Broncos

Broncos hired ex-Bears DBs coach Ed Donatell as defensive coordinator.
New Broncos coach Vic Fangio's top lieutenant in Chicago, Donatell will serve in the same role in Denver. 61-year-old Donatell has had a long and winding coaching career, coordinating multiple defenses both in the pros and college. His last NFL coordinating job was with the Falcons from 2004-06. We would assume Fangio will serve as his own play-caller.

    John DeFilippo - C - Jaguars

Jaguars hired ex-Vikings OC John DeFilippo as offensive coordinator.
40-year-old DeFilippo got his NFL coaching start under Tom Coughlin with the Giants and now rejoins him in Jacksonville. This will be DeFilippo's third stint as an OC. He called the plays for the 2015 Browns, getting career years out of Travis Benjamin and Gary Barnidge. DeFilippo then became the Eagles QBs coach and got a lot of notoriety for his work with Carson Wentz and Nick Foles en route to a Super Bowl win. His 13-game run as the Vikings OC in 2018 ended disastrously, but DeFilippo was stuck with an old-timer coach in Mike Zimmer who wanted to run the ball and play defense. This, however, is another stop in Jacksonville where the Jaguars are built the same way. The dots are already connecting on Foles potentially landing with the Jaguars as their new quarterback.

    Rich Scangarello - C - Broncos

Broncos hired 49ers QBs coach Rich Scangarello as offensive coordinator.
Scangarello, 46, is a Kyle Shanahan disciple having worked with him in Atlanta and San Francisco following numerous jobs around the lower college ranks. He's a relative unknown but is now being tasked with running the offense in Denver alongside new defensive-minded coach Vic Fangio. Scangarello will have OL coach Mike Munchak to lean on, and we expect this offense to be run-oriented based on both Munchak and Shanahan's histories on hammering the run.

Does that give Freeman any worth? (since there will be so many carries) Or is this the all-Lindsay all the time team?

I think that’s up to Freeman.... if he comes in and impresses the new staff, he absolutely has a shot at atleast a dual role.

    Darrell Bevell - C - Lions

Lions hired ex-Seahawks OC Darrell Bevell as offensive coordinator.
The Lions were turned down by many other candidates, but they finally found someone to take the job. Bevell was interviewed for the Falcons and Jaguars openings, but those jobs went to Dirk Koetter and John DeFilippo, respectively. Bevell will now call plays for defensive-minded coach Matt Patricia, who ran the offense into the ground in his first year on the job by putting shackles on OC Jim Bob Cooter and Matthew Stafford. As a run-first guy, Bevell fits Patricia's personality. The Lions will be better off once Patricia is out of Detroit.

    Bill Musgrave - C - Free Agent

    Broncos fired OC Bill Musgrave.
Musgrave was never going to stick around under a new head coach, and now it is official. Assuming he wants to coach in 2019, Musgrave should be able to find a home as a quarterbacks coach.

    Scott Linehan - C - Free Agent

    Cowboys fired OC Scott Linehan.
This ends his five-year run in Dallas. The Cowboys were initially expected to retain Linehan, but obviously they had a change of heart. "This was not an easy decision because of how highly we regard Scott Linehan as a football coach and as a person," said coach Jason Garrett in a statement Friday. "He is an outstanding football coach, a great friend and we wish him and his family nothing but the absolute best moving forward." Garrett said the decision to part ways was mutual, but in reality, the Cowboys have been looking at outside OC candidates for the past several days. Outside of the always reliable Ezekiel Elliott and a late-season surge from Amari Cooper, the Cowboys' offense was nothing special this year. Ultimately, Dak Prescott should benefit from a more creative play-caller.

    John Harbaugh - C - Ravens

ESPN's Chris Mortensen reports the Ravens and coach John Harbaugh have agreed in principle to a contract extension.
Harbaugh has one year remaining on his current deal, but the Ravens will still assuredly lock him up for the foreseeable future after he became a hot commodity following the team's Wild Card loss to the Chargers. Harbaugh has been at the helm for Baltimore since initially replacing Brian Billick in 2008. This pending extension ensures Harbaugh stays head coach despite the plethora of changes in and out of the front office around him over the past 12 months.

    Arthur Smith - C - Titans

Titans promoted TEs coach Arthur Smith to offensive coordinator.
Smith is so much of an unknown that he lacked a Wikipedia page at the time of this writing. According to the team, he is "wrapping up his eighth season on the Titans coaching staff." He started with the club as a defensive assistant/quality control coach but moved to the offensive side of the ball in 2012. He has served under four different head coaches in Nashville. Amazingly, Smith will be Marcus Mariota's fifth offensive coordinator in five years. As Freddie Kitchens has once again proven, unknown does not equal bad hire. We just don't have anything to go on.

    Brian Callahan - C - Bengals

Bengals hired Raiders QBs coach Brian Callahan as offensive coordinator.
Bill Callahan's son, Brian has been an NFL quarterbacks coach since 2015, spending 2015 in Denver before a two-year sojourn in Detroit. He joined Jon Gruden last offseason. A card-carrying cocoon member, it is entirely unclear if Callahan is qualified to run an NFL offense. It's possible new coach Zac Taylor serves as his own play-caller, anyways.

    Chiefs fire Bob Sutton
Posted by Josh Alper on January 22, 2019, 2:53 PM EST
    Getty Images

The Chiefs hoped to be getting ready for the Super Bowl this week, but they’ll be thinking about a new defensive coordinator instead.

The team announced on Tuesday that they have fired Bob Sutton. The news comes two days after the Chiefs lost 37-31 to the Patriots in overtime of the AFC Championship Game and one day after head coach Andy Reid stopped well short of ruling out a change at the top of the defensive coaching staff.

“Bob is a good football coach and a great person,” Reid said in a statement. “He played an integral role in the success of our team over the last six seasons. I’ve said before that change can be a good thing, for both parties, and I believe that is the case here for the Chiefs and Bob. This was not an easy decision, but one I feel is in the best interest of the Kansas City Chiefs moving forward.”

Given those reports, it’s no surprise that the Chiefs have made the move. It’s also not a surprise given the performance.

While the Chiefs were the top seed in the AFC, they ranked at or near the bottom of the league in many meaningful defensive categories and gave up more first downs than any team in history. With a potent offense, some of that could be swallowed but the Chiefs routinely failed to come up with stops when they needed them the most.

The Patriots’ game-winning touchdown drive saw them convert three third-and-10s stands as the most recent example and, perhaps, the one that sealed Sutton’s fate in Kansas City.

    Dowell Loggains - C - Jets

Jets hired Dowell Loggains as offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach.
This was fully expected. Loggains follows Adam Gase to New York after coaching with him in Miami and Chicago. Gase will call his own plays, so Loggains will focus on gameplanning and working with Sam Darnold.

    John Harbaugh - C - Ravens

Ravens signed coach John Harbaugh to a contract extension.
The deal had been in the works for some time. It will be officially announced on Friday. The Ravens' coach since 2008, Harbaugh had been heading into the final year of his contract. Although one of the more successful coaches of the 21st century, Harbaugh had gone three-straight seasons without a playoff berth until 2018. The Ravens have only one postseason win since their Super Bowl victory in 2012-13. Despite the new deal, Harbaugh could still easily be handed his walking papers if 2019 is more of the 2015-17 same.

Steve Spagnuolo - DL - Chiefs

Chiefs hired ex-Giants DC Steve Spagnuolo as defensive coordinator.
The cocoon hire to end all cocoon hires, Spags should at least be an improvement on Bob Sutton. Spagnuolo occasionally oversaw fearsome defenses with the Giants. Talent was sometimes an issue the second time around. Spagnuolo began his NFL coaching career under Andy Reid in Philadelphia. If the bar is merely to be better than Sutton, Spags will clear it. Personnel issues and the Chiefs' style of play mean the defense will almost certainly still give up a boatload of points in 2019.

    Kevin O'Connell - C - Redskins

Redskins promoted QBs coach Kevin O'Connell to offensive coordinator.
Ex-OC Matt Cavanaugh has been demoted to "senior offensive assistant." The Redskins must have been scared of losing O'Connell, who has been the team's quarterbacks coach/passing-game coordinator for just two seasons. Still only 33, O'Connell has been coaching since 2015. His playing career ended in 2012. Re-assigning instead of firing Cavanaugh is a curious move, but this is the Redskins we are talking about. In general, promoting young blood on the coaching staff is a good thing.

    Interesting....

Kellen Moore - QB - Cowboys

Cowboys promoted QBs coach Kellen Moore to offensive coordinator.
Only 29, Moore has just one year of coaching experience after retiring following the 2017 season. It had been unclear if Moore would immediately be given play-calling duties, but that will apparently be the case. Coach Jason Garrett will continue to function in a CEO-style role. A bold hire, Moore is also a risky one. New QBs coach Jon Kitna has no NFL coaching experience. Moore is going to functionally be on his own.

    Dennis Allen - C - Saints

Brian Flores - LB - Dolphins

Dolphins hired Patriots DC Brian Flores as head coach.
The worst-keep secret in sports is official three weeks after it was clear it was happening. Unlike the last Patriots defensive coordinator to leave for a head-coaching gig, Flores arrives in Miami riding high after the Pats terminated the Rams' explosive offense with extreme prejudice in Super Bowl LIII. Only 37 years old, Flores' hire goes against the grain of teams seeking out any young "offensive guru" who happens to have Sean McVay's cell phone number. Like those assistants, however, Flores is fairly green himself, arriving in South Beach with just one year of (unofficial) coordinator experience. He will be overseeing a tank job in 2019. It will be trying.

    Zac Taylor - C - Bengals

Bengals hired Rams QBs coach Zac Taylor as head coach.
Taylor has been locked in as Marvin Lewis' replacement for nearly a month, but antiquated NFL rules prevented him from being officially announced until after the conclusion of the Rams' playoff run. That conclusion, of course, was one of the worst offensive performances in Super Bowl history. Sean McVay's offense got brutalized and thoroughly out-coached. For his part, 35-year-old Taylor has one month of NFL coordinating experience, the December 2015 Miami Dolphins. To say his hiring is a leap of faith would be an understatement. Having McVay on the rolodex got Taylor this job. Hopefully he is up for it.

Broncos getting Munchak & Fangio should be great additions to the Broncos.
Now just need to find 3 OLineman, QB, Te, LB & a Corner. Elway needs to have a great draft. Last year was good but years prior have been disastrous. Peyton is no longer here to recruit him some free agents on the cheap either.

Who do you guys recommend Denver gets @#10 or move up. Haskins, Murray, Lock or go BPA other than qb?
