I think this hurts Nyheim Hines more than Mack.

But, it is good for my share of Damien Williams stock.

So if Duke Johnson ends up in Tampa from a Gerald McCoy involved trade... how does that muddle things in the backfield?!

Kenny Clark DL, Green Bay Packers
Packers exercised NT Kenny Clark's fifth-year option for 2020.

GM Brian Gutekunst said this would be the case, and it's now official. The deadline is Friday. The 27th overall pick in the 2016 draft, Clark has developed into one of the top interior 3-4 linemen in the league, grading out as Pro Football Focus' No. 6 interior lineman out of 119 qualifiers last season. Clark was equally dominant both against run and as a pocket-pusher. Clark is still just 23.

    Raiders sign Doug Martin
  • IcemanIceman Posts: 4,375

    Doug Martin RB, Oakland Raiders
    Raiders re-signed RB Doug Martin.

Isaiah Crowell tore his Achilles' in a workout with the Raiders on Tuesday, so the team needed a new veteran back to at the very least bring to camp. Martin rebounded last year in Oakland, rushing 172 times for 723 yards (4.2 YPC) and four touchdowns across 16 games, including nine starts. He'll slide in alongside second-round rookie Josh Jacobs while the Raiders figure out what they have in DeAndre Washington and Chris Warren as potential younger solutions.

    No surprise here....

    Laquon Treadwell WR, Minnesota Vikings
Vikings declined WR Laquon Treadwell's fifth-year team option for 2020.

Treadwell's option, which would have paid him $10.2 million, was never going to get picked up. His $2.5 million dead money hit is the only thing saving his roster spot.

    Or here....

    Josh Doctson WR, Washington Redskins
Redskins declined WR Josh Doctson's fifth-year option for 2020.

This was an easy call. Doctson made some strides after Alex Smith went down last year but hasn't come close to living up to his draft status. He's also battled multiple injuries despite missing just one game the past two seasons. Even with Jamison Crowder gone, it's hard to see Doctson taking a step forward in 2019.

    Jack Conklin T, Tennessee Titans
Titans declined RT Jack Conklin's fifth-year team option for 2020.

The No. 8 overall pick in the 2016 draft, Conklin started all 32 games his first two seasons but tore his ACL in the 2017 playoffs, forcing him to miss seven starts last year. Conklin still isn't healthy. And considering he was a top-10 pick, Conklin's salary would have been even higher. The Titans want to see Conklin return to 100 percent before committing millions of more dollars to him.

An IDP bust that was very highly regarded as a rookie...

    Shaq Lawson DL, Buffalo Bills
Bills declined DE Shaq Lawson's fifth-year option for 2020.

The No. 19 overall pick in the 2016 draft, Lawson has been a total bust in Buffalo. Switching from standup outside linebacker to hand-in-the-dirt defensive end hasn't made the transition smooth, but Lawson simply hasn't produced with just 10 total sacks through three seasons. Lawson is merely a rotational end alongside Trent Murphy and Eddie Yarbrough opposite Jerry Hughes.

    Zach Brown LB, Philadelphia Eagles
Eagles signed LB Zach Brown, formerly of the Redskins, to a one-year contract.

Released by the Redskins in a salary-cap move in March, it's somewhat surprising it took this long for Brown to find a new home. Brown doesn't turn 30 until after the season starts and graded out as Pro Football Focus' No. 3 off-ball linebacker out of 61 qualifiers last season, behind only Luke Kuechly and Bobby Wagner. After losing Jordan Hicks in free agency, Brown is a quality replacement in the middle of the Eagles' defense.

    Ezekiel Ansah DL, Seattle Seahawks
NFL reporter Rob Rang reports Ezekiel Ansah's one-year deal with the Seahawks includes $6 million guaranteed.

Per NFL.com's Ian Rapoport, Ansah's "base" is $9 million. Rang reports the total compensation could go as high as $12.75 million. Rapsheet keeps reporting that Ansah could be cleared from his shoulder injury midway through training camp, but ESPN's Adam Schefter has said he could miss "at least" the first month of the regular season. That's where all the different money figures come in.

Ben Watson TE, New England Patriots
Patriots agreed to terms with TE Ben Watson, formerly of the Saints, on a one-year, $3 million contract.

Going on 39, Watson briefly retired following the Saints' gutting NFC Championship Game loss, but he will return to the franchise that made him a first-round pick all the way back in 2004. Watson spent the first six years of his career in New England, winning the Super Bowl as a rookie. He never caught more than 49 balls as a Pat, and even with Rob Gronkowski retired, Watson is unlikely to clear that number after posting a 35/400/2 line in 2018. Watson will be competing for looks with lead-footed Austin Seferian-Jenkins in Foxborough. He could emerge as a matchup-based play in fantasy.

    Xavien Howard DB, Miami Dolphins
Dolphins signed CB Xavien Howard to a five-year, $76.5 million contract extension.

It's the largest contract extension among corners in NFL history, and it also makes him the highest-paid corner in the league, something he was looking to achieve during negotiations. The five-year deal includes $46 million guaranteed, which is a fair deal given his Pro Bowl-level talent. Since entering the league as a second-round pick, Howard has been among the best corners in the NFL, and he'll be one of the foundational pieces in the Dolphins' rebuild.

Dontrelle Inman WR, New England Patriots
Patriots signed WR Dontrelle Inman, formerly of the Colts, to a one-year contract.

The Patriots struck out in their free-agent pursuits of Golden Tate and Adam Humphries, but they've done well to add receiving depth in recent weeks by signing Demaryius Thomas and now Inman while using a first-round pick on Arizona State standout N'Keal Harry. With Josh Gordon suspended and Thomas still recovering from a torn Achilles, Inman will be in the running for No. 3 duties in Foxboro along with deep threat Phillip Dorsett. As usual, the Pats will incorporate a large ensemble of pass-catchers including running back James White, tight end Austin Seferian-Jenkins and the recently unretired Ben Watson.

    Eric Kendricks LB, Minnesota Vikings
Vikings MLB Eric Kendricks has agreed to a restructured contract.

The Vikings needed to create cap space for their rookie draft class. Kendricks has undoubtedly turned a large portion of his $4.15 million 2019 salary into a bonus that can be prorated across the final five years of his deal. Now 27, Kendricks signed a five-year, $50 million extension last April and proceeded to have arguably the worst year of his career. He will be on the spot in 2019.

Jamie Collins LB, New England Patriots
    Patriots signed LB Jamie Collins.

Collins is back with the Patriots after being traded to the Browns in 2016. He's coming off a middling season, but Collins knows Bill Belichick's scheme and played his best years in New England. Collins is expected to get in some on-field work during OTAs.

Julian Edelman WR, New England Patriots
Patriots signed Julian Edelman to a two-year, $18 million extension through 2021.

The deal includes an $8 million signing bonus and $12 million guaranteed. Edelman was entering the final year of his deal, but this extension will keep him under contract through his age-35 season. Edelman showed no signs of slowing down last season, catching 74 passes for 850 yards and six touchdowns in just 12 games. With Rob Gronkowski gone, Edelman should be leaned on even more moving forward.

Ndamukong Suh DL, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Bucs signed Ndamukong Suh to a one-year contract.

With the Bucs cutting ties with Gerald McCoy, Suh was a logical replacement and it only took one day to get the deal in place. In DC Todd Bowles' scheme, it won't be surprising to see Suh put up solid numbers across the board. However, after staying on the free agent market for months, Suh will once again be playing for a new contract next year as a 33-year old after only getting a one-year deal from Tampa Bay.
