    More trades!

The Philadelphia Eagles have traded the No. 6 and No. 156 overall picks to the Miami Dolphins for No. 12, No. 123, and a 2022 first-rounder, the Eagles announced Friday.

Dolphins trade back up to No. 6, Eagles move down to No. 12

On a wild day of trading in the NFL, the Dolphins have now made two big moves.

Shortly after pulling off a blockbuster trade with the 49ers to send the third overall pick to San Francisco, the Eagles have traded the 49ers’ 2021 first-round pick, No. 12 overall, to the Dolphins.

Philadelphia will ship the sixth overall pick in this year’s draft to Miami for No. 12 overall and a 2022 first-round pick. (The Eagles will also ship the 156th overall pick to Miami and get the 123rd overall pick in the deal.)

It’s unclear which 2022 first-round pick the Dolphins have sent to the Eagles.

By moving down from No. 6 to No. 12, the Eagles have likely taken themselves out of the quarterback derby, a sign that they’re all-in on Jalen Hurts as their starting quarterback this year.

By moving back up to No. 6, the Dolphins have signaled that they might take a quarterback after all, which would be a bad sign for their faith in Tua Tagovailoa. It’s also possible, however, that the Dolphins won’t take a quarterback and just think they can add an elite player at No. 6 who won’t be there at No. 12.

Today is one of the biggest days the NFL has ever seen for draft pick trades.

It bewilders me as to why the Eagles threw the last game of the year to the Giants. All that to trade away their 6th spot? I guess 2021 is a make it or break it year for Hurts.

Seems they are all in on Hurts, could very well work out.

    Carlos Dunlap DL, Seattle Seahawks
Seahawks re-signed DE Carlos Dunlap to a two-year, $16.6 million contract.

Dunlap was "cut" 17 days ago in a cap move. His new deal includes $8.5 million guaranteed, which is almost the exact amount of cap space the Seahawks will gain when Jarran Reed's trade/release is finalized. A trade deadline addition last October, Dunlap helped immediately revitalize a moribund defense, racking up seven sacks in eight games for Pete Carroll's unit. Dunlap is on the wrong side of 30, but it's a reasonable contract for someone who still has this level of pass-rushing heat. Dunlap should play 70-75 percent of the Seahawks' snaps in 2021.

    Matt Breida RB, Buffalo Bills
Bills signed RB Matt Breida, formerly of the Dolphins, to a one-year contract.

Breida, whose star has dimmed considerably since his promising 2018, gives the Bills an experienced option for their No. 3 spot. T.J. Yeldon was allowed to walk in free agency. Breida had a disappointing 2020 in Miami, managing just 68 touches for a backfield that was in dire need of healthy runners. Breida simply didn't impress the coaching staff. Breida will be regarded as a product of Kyle Shanahan's running back-friendly system until he proves otherwise. 2021 will be his age-26 campaign. He is not going to push Devin Singletary or Zack Moss for work.

Mohamed Sanu WR, San Francisco 49ers
49ers signed WR Mohamed Sanu, formerly of the Lions, to a one-year contract.

Sanu will return to San Francisco, where he played three games in 2020 before being cut. He managed one nine-yard reception in his brief stint with the Niners before signing with Detroit later in the 2020 season. Sanu, 31, isn't likely to make the team's Week 1 active roster, and would only see playing time if the 49ers once again struggle with wideout injuries. It's been downhill for the veteran since the Patriots unbelievably traded a second round draft pick for Sanu in 2019, only to see him catch 12 passes in six games.

The NFL has officially approved a 17th regular season game for the 2021 season.

The 17th game will be an additional interconference contest, with the AFC serving as the "home conference" for 2021. The matchups will feature "teams from opposing conferences that finished in the same place within their division the previous season." This creates matchups like Green Bay visiting Kansas City and Cleveland hosting Arizona, etc.

NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reports in-person OTAs can begin on April 19.

"The NFL and NFLPA continue to discuss virtual vs. in-person meetings and on-field work soon thereafter," Pelissero reports. As Pelissero points out, it is possible the league and NFLPA ultimately agree to new COVID rules for the 2021 offseason, but if they don't, the CBA status quo takes the day. We saw a similar dynamic play out in Major League Baseball, where the MLBPA vetoed a later start and the calendar kicked in as normal. Although the pandemic is still roiling in many parts of the country, vaccinations and previous infections are making for fewer places for the virus to spread. The offseason program could still be altered, but it doesn't seem like there is going to be a repeat of 2020 where all in-person activity was scrapped.

Not for my 10 team leagues with two 5-Team divisions.

16 weeks was perfect. 8 games against your own division and 5 games against the other division with playoffs in weeks 14 through 16

NEWS ARTICLES > BUCCANEERS | OPEN COMPETITION AT RB FOR TAMPA BAY
    PUBLISHED TUE MAR 30 11:25:00 A.M. CT 2021
(thehuddle) Tampa Bay Buccaneers RBs Ronald Jones and Leonard Fournette are expected to battle it out for the starting running back job in 2021, according to comments made by head coach Bruce Arians on Tuesday, March 30. 'It's a new football team. Last year's team won the Super Bowl, this year's team hasn't done (anything). Starting positions will be defined in practice,' Arians told Pewter Report.
Analysis: Jones easily outpaced Fournette in touches during the regular season (220-123), but the former tested positive for COVID-19 and needed surgery on his finger late in the season. As most Tampa Bay fans now know, it was all "Playoff Lenny" or "Lombardi Lenny" after that. Jones is the more productive player and consistently does more with his touches than Fournette, but the latter is the more trustworthy receiver out of the backfield. Both backs have RB2 upside but should be viewed as high-end flex options for now.

    Tyler Lockett WR, Seattle Seahawks
Seahawks signed Tyler Lockett to a four-year, $69.2 million contract extension.

The extension includes $37 million guaranteed. It appears the team is committed to pairing Lockett and DK Metcalf for years to come. Lockett, 29 in September, is coming off his first 100-reception season, though his yards per target and yards per catch plummeted in 2020. He has been a veritable touchdown machine over the past three seasons, racking up 28 scores since the start of the 2018 season. Lockett proved frustrating for fantasy purposes in the second half of the 2020 season, when Seattle abandoned their pass-heavy ways for an ultra-conservative approach. Fantasy's No. 1 receiver in Week 8, Lockett was fantasy 24th highest scoring wideout in the final eight weeks. He shapes up as a slightly undervalued fantasy option if the Seahawks don't seek to establish the run at all costs in 2021. That's a big if.

The details from the @footballchix report.....

    Sam Darnold QB, Carolina Panthers
Panthers acquired QB Sam Darnold from the Panthers in exchange for three draft picks.

The Panthers are sending a 2021 sixth-rounder New York's way before getting more serious in 2022, where they will be shipping off their second- and fourth-rounders. It's not much of a haul — future picks are inherently less valuable — but it's a lot better than nothing, with the second-rounder at least representing real draft capital. As part of the deal, the Panthers are exercising Darnold's (guaranteed for injury only) fifth-year team option for 2022. Darnold is an uninspired Teddy Bridgewater back-up plan after the Panthers put all their eggs in the Deshaun Watson basket, but they can convince themselves 24-year-old (in June) Darnold still has untapped upside. Picking eighth later this month, the move doesn't necessarily take the Panthers out of the running for a rookie signal caller, though they already know the top three quarterbacks will come off the board in the top three picks. Darnold arrives to challenge or usurp Bridgewater after a horrendous 2020 where he had more picks than passing scores. It's tough to properly evaluate Darnold considering the lack of offensive talent and coaching acumen around him in New York, but most players with a bright future would have already displayed some semblance of the ability to create instant offense by now. That being said, Panthers OC Joe Brady is on the short list of people you would want to try to turn Darnold around. Darnold should be considered the favorite to start in September.

Interesting... not everyone shares your outlook

(thehuddle) New York Jets QB Sam Darnold was acquired by the Carolina Panthers Monday, April 5, in exchange for a 2021 sixth-round draft choice, a 2022 second-round draft choice and a 2022 fourth-round draft choice.
Analysis: Darnold should take over as the starting quarterback for the Panthers and could be the long-term quarterback if he plays well. He will have a solid group of receivers to work with and can be a No. 2 quarterback in fantasy leagues.

(fantasypros) ESPN's Adam Schefter reports the New York Jets are sending QB Sam Darnold to the Carolina Panthers in exchange for a 2021 sixth-round pick, a 2022 second-round pick, and a 2022 fourth-round pick.
Analysis: Ian Rapoport of NFL Network adds that the Panthers were "the best and sole suitor" for Darnold. Carolina made it no secret that they were interested in landing a quarterback upgrade this offseason. The original plan of going after Deshaun Watson has taken a turn, so the Panthers pivoted to getting a young QB on the cheap. If Darnold is going to revive his career then landing with Matt Rhule and Carolina's skill players is a good start. This could be a fantasy friendly offense if the former No. 3 overall pick is able to turn things around.

I actually like this spot for Darnold to succeed. His value went up especially in SF leagues where he will be a good QB # 2.
And I wouldnt be surprised to see Carolina draft another wideout or Pitts...
