Trades and Signings 2020-2021 Season
Sewo Olonilua RB, Dallas Cowboys
Cowboys promoted RB Sewo Olonilua from the practice squad.
It is notable in the context of Ezekiel Elliott being a game-time decision for Week 9 with a hamstring injury. Olonilua's promotion is certainly a sign that Zeke might be on the wrong side of questionable. Even if that happens, Olonilua will not be fantasy consideration behind plug-and-play RB2 Tony Pollard. A part-time player in four seasons at TCU, Olonilua (6'3"/232) disappointed at Indy's combine with a 4.66 40 but reportedly clocked a 4.47 during a pro workout in April. That's a terrifying notion given his size and strength combination as the 22-year-old also squats 770 pounds, benches 470, and cleans 475. His career yards per carry dipped in every season (8.1, 5.2, 4.7, 4.0) with the Horned Frogs, but note he was primarily used either from the slot or on short-yardage sub-packages in his last two years.

Stefen Wisniewski C, Unsigned Free Agent
Steelers released G/C Stefen Wisniewski.
Wisniewski just came off injured reserve after dealing with a pectoral injury. The Steelers evidently decided they didn't need his depth. 31-year-old Stefen Wisniewski was an every-week starter for the Chiefs last season. He should quickly become a fixture on the workout circuit, though perhaps his age and injury-marred 2020 will work against him in that regard.

Dez Bryant WR, Baltimore Ravens
Ravens promoted WR Dez Bryant from the practice squad.
Bryant evidently proved himself in 11 days on the taxi squad. The 32-year-old has not played a regular season snap since Dec. 31, 2017. He suffered a torn Achilles' tendon in the interim. Translation, even if the Ravens' talent-deficient receiver corps, Bryant probably isn't going to do enough damage to make himself a fantasy option. His Ravens debut comes in a tough Week 9 matchup with the Colts. Bryant will probably be on the field for 10-15 snaps.

As we have said before, the good teams stay good for a reason.....
Pete Carroll HC, Seattle Seahawks
ESPN's Adam Schefter reports the Seahawks are signing HC Pete Carroll to a "multi-year extension".
The terms of the deal aren't yet known but Schefter added that one source believes the deal will keep Carroll in Seattle through 2025. Carroll is the oldest head coach in the NFL at 69 years old. His new deal would expire when he's 74 years old if it does expire in 2025. Carroll has struggled to get Seattle back to Super Bowl in recent years but a philosophical overhaul on his part has the team in a great position to go all the way this year. Russell Wilson is averaging 36.6 pass attempts per game, the highest mark of his career. Unsurprisingly, the increase in volume has had no adverse effects on his efficiency. With a touchdown rate north of 10 percent, Wilson is on pace to set the record for passing touchdowns in a season. After finally unleashing one of the best passers in the league, Seattle is sticking with Carroll for years to come.

Takk McKinley DL, Unsigned Free Agent
Falcons waived DE Takk McKinley.
It's a win-win situation since McKinley went on a social media rant after the Falcons were unable to find any suitors for him during last week's trade deadline. The 25-year-old is due $875,000 for the rest of the year if any organization chooses to claim him off waivers. He has just one sack this season and 17.5 over the course of his three-plus years in the league.

Jordan Thomas TE, New England Patriots
Patriots claimed TE Jordan Thomas off waivers.
The massive tight end (6'5" and 278 pounds), spent some time on the Cardinals' practice squad this season before being released. Last year, Thomas was the presumed starting tight end for Houston before suffering a string of injuries that foiled his season. In 2018, Thomas caught 20 of 27 targets for 215 yards and four touchdowns. He joins a Patriots team without much tight end depth.

Tavon Young DB, Baltimore Ravens
Ravens reworked CB Tavon Young's contract.
The team created cap space by converting $2.514 million of his 2020 base salary into a signing bonus and dropping his non-guaranteed $5.5 million 2021 base salary to $2.65 million guaranteed. In September, for the second time since entering the leagues in 2016, Young tore the ACL in his left knee and was placed on season ending IR. Young missed the entire 2019 campaign with a neck injury.

Chase McLaughlin K, Jacksonville Jaguars
Jaguars signed K Chase McLaughlin from the Vikings practice squad.
McLaughlin would be Jacksonville's sixth kicker of the season. He lost out to Rodrigo Blankenship after a heated kicker competition in Colts training camp this summer, later signing to Minnesota's practice squad. McLaughin, 24, converted 18-of-23 2019 field goal attempts for three different teams. He'll have limited fantasy appeal on a team that rarely sees positive game script, which proves crucial to kicker opportunity.

Tramon Williams DB, Baltimore Ravens
Ravens agreed to terms with CB Tramon Williams, formerly of the Packers.
The 37-year-old corner appeared in all 16 games for the Packers last season, making seven starts. He provides highly experienced depth while the Ravens wait for Marlon Humphrey to come off the COVID-19 list.

Remember when some people thought Jordan Howard was actually good? Like better than Miles Sanders good? Well he's been released today by the Dolphins. At 26 years old, the cliff came early.

Zach Sieler DL, Miami Dolphins
Dolphins and DE Zach Sieler agreed to a contract extension.
The official terms haven't been announced, but Sieler is expected to be under contract through the 2023 season. Ozzie Newsome's last ever draft pick with Baltimore, Sieler was claimed off waivers by the Dolphins in December and has totaled 26 tackles, eight quarterback hits and 1.5 sacks as a rotational player and special teams piece across nine appearances this year. He turned 25 in September.

Dolphins waived RB Jordan Howard.
Signed to a two-year deal with Miami this offseason, Howard's departure should still land Philadelphia a sixth-round compensatory pick under the new CBA. The 26-year-old finishes his Dolphins tenure with 28 carries for 33 yards and four rushing scores, averaging 1.17 yards per carry across five appearances. Any suitors looking to add Howard as depth would only be on the hook for $721,000 for the rest of this season. UDFA Salvon Ahmed played 44-of-58 snaps and handled 84% of the team's backfield carries without Howard on Sunday, presumably becoming the Dolphins' workhorse until Myles Gaskin (knee) returns. Expect Ahmed to headline John Daigle's Waiver Wire column on Tuesday.

Davontae Harris DB, Unsigned Free Agent
Broncos waived CB Davontae Harris.
A special teams mainstay, Harris was thrust into 95 defensive snaps this season and performed poorly. Going on 26, Harris could have a tough time cracking someone's 53-man roster in 2021.
Nov 17, 2020, 3:57 PM ET..
Pierre Desir DB, Unsigned Free Agent
Jets waived CB Pierre Desir.
It is a bit surprising the Jets waited through their bye week to make the move, but this always felt like a possibility following Desir's awful Week 9 against the Patriots, where his attempt at "tackling" led to a long Damiere Byrd gain. Desir has been up and down all season but had been operating as an every-down player for Gang Green. Although he's now on the wrong side of 30, Desir's seven years of experience will surely draw him looks on the waiver wire, especially since he is game/conditioning ready. The Jets will move forward with Brian Poole, Bless Austin, Bryce Hall, Corey Ballentine and Lamar Jackson at cornerback.

akk McKinley DL, Unsigned Free Agent
Ex-Falcons DE Takk McKinley failed his Bengals physical and has reverted back to waivers.
No further details, such as what prompted the failure, were provided. It's just the latest development in a disastrous year for the ex-Falcon. The Raiders, 49ers and Browns all put in claims in addition to the Bengals last week, so it does remain possible McKinley still immediately finds a new home.

Marc Colombo T, Unsigned Free Agent
Giants fired OL coach Marc Colombo.
Colombo came over with OC Jason Garrett from Dallas this offseason. The Giants' offensive line has been a disaster through the first 10 weeks, allowing the third-most sacks (31) in the league. Ex-Dolphins OL coach Dave DeGuglielmo was hired to replace Colombo.

Takk McKinley DL, San Francisco 49ers
49ers claimed DE Takk McKinley off waivers from the Falcons.
McKinley reverted back to waivers after he failed his physical with the Bengals. He'll need to prove he's healthy to stick with the 49ers, but McKinley has the support of Kyle Shanahan and the coaching staff. The 2017 draft bust had just one sack in 85 snaps with Atlanta before being sidelined with a groin injury.

Jordan Howard RB, Philadelphia Eagles
Eagles signed RB Jordan Howard, formerly of the Dolphins, to the practice squad.
NFL Network's Ian Rapoport notes that Howard must pass all COVID-19 protocols before it's finalized. Howard also must earn an active roster spot before factoring into the Eagles' current running back rotation, which is essentially Miles Sanders for 80% of touches. Howard's addition isn't much of a threat to Sanders for now after showing little in Miami earlier this year.
