Help with keepers due 8/1

bobebobe Posts: 23
Hey guys. Could use some help determining my final 2 keepers in a 14 team, 7 keeper league (start 1QB, 1RB, 2 WR, 1TE and 2 Flex, .5 ppr). Keepers are due by 8/1

My definite keepers are Dalvin Cook, Travis Kelce, AJ Brown, Stefon Diggs and Devin Singletary.

My options for the last two are Drew Brees, Brandin Cooks, Jordan Howard, Will Fuller and Antonio Brown (doubt he ever plays again.

I'm leaning towards Cooks and Howard.

Its tough letting Brees go, but since keeping a QB isn't required, thinking I'm better off keeping skill position players instead.

I also have the #4 and #8 picks in our draft so I should be able to land a couple top Rookies

Who should my final 2 keepers be?

thanks

Team 1 - 14 team (12 keeper), no ppr
QB-Brees,Newton
RB-D.Murray,Ivory,D.McFadden,J.Randle,S.Draughn,B.Allen,M.Davis
WR-A.Brown,D.Bryant,L.Fitzgerald,B.Quick,C.Latimer,R.Mathews,
TE-Kelce,B.Watson,M.Williams

Team 2 - 12 team (8 keeper), ppr w/superflex
QB-Ryan,T.Bridgewater
RB-D.Freeman,M.Gordon,Alf,D.Martin,C.Michael
WR-AJ Green,Hopkins,DeSean,V.Cruz,S.Johnson
TE-Kelce

Yep, think you’re right. I was considering Brees too. Do you think other better qbs will be available? If not, I’d keep him over Howard

I’d keep Brees and Cooks. I don’t see Howard as making much difference and in a 14 team league, I’d rather secure a QB.

i do think there will be other QBs available. Brady, Wentz, D.Jones, Newton and possibly A. Rodgers to name a few. its our first year keeping 7 (we use to keep 12), so I think only 6-7 QBs will be protected.

I’d still keep Brees over Howard. Unless you can trade Howard and Brees for a QB you like more (to a team short on keeper options)

These fellas have you covered. Definitely keep Brees over Howard regardless of who will be available when you select your backup QB

Maybe my advice would vary depending upon what draft choices you would have to forfeit in order to keep players

btw, we dont have to forfeit any draft picks for keepers

i figured as much. I hate that. Not all keepers are of equal value.

In my dynasty leagues that is fine because all we are really picking are rookies.

In my limited keeper (3 maximum) league we have to forfeit the pick for the round in which the player was actually drafted. If the player is being kept in a consecutive year then we have to forfeit the pick commensurate with the round of the player's ADP. In that league you can keep a player for as long as you want. but, it is going to cost you something each year. And if the player is a stud, it will cost a high draft pick after the second year. I drafted Adrian Peterson in his rookie year in the 6th round. The next year I kept him for my 6th round pick. But, every year I kept him thereafter it cost me my 1st round pick, which was usually toward the end of round 1.

    This is the best suggestion.

I would also consider keeping brees and trading Cooks and Howard for Mattison

Fuller and Brees for me. If Fuller plays even 14 games this year, i expect a monster season.

I think I’d keep Fuller and Cooks... I don’t mind doubling up on wr’s from the same team.... plus one of the two are likely to be hurt making the other a must start 🤣
  • Are you telling him to get the handcuff to a WR3? 😂

Interesting... when I first saw this recommendation I thought it was ridiculous.

But, I am all about the ADP of keepers, particularly in my league where I forfeit a draft pick to keep a player. When I can keep a player whose keeper-cost is several rounds later than his ADP, that is a slam dunk decision

So, I looked up current ADP data at Fantasy Football Calculator for 14 team half PPR and found the following https://fantasyfootballcalculator.com/adp/half-ppr/14-team/all
    1. Brandin Cooks - 6.09
    2. Will Fuller - 6.13
    3. Drew Brees - 7.08
    4. Jordan Howard - 8.02

I still think that I would keep Brees since he and Fuller are fairly close, but, I can't argue with keeping Cooks and Fuller. I you are positive that there will be sufficient QBs available then seriously consider keeping both WRs

I can understand that logic. But how thin might he be at QB in a 14 team league? Why waste an early round pick to get a QB?

Which is the reason why I still lean toward keeping Brees
