Rookie Draft Question: Gronkowski? AJ Dillon

hoyasaxahoyasaxa Posts: 143
I’m re-emerging from an off season hibernation.

In round 2 of rookie draft, I’m thinking of Gronkowski, as I’m in need of a TE, my glaring weakness. I have Ian Thomas and Burton/Fells. If I go with a rookie, it would be AJ Dillon.

It’s a 12 team, 22 man roster, but people are hoarding TEs on their rosters.

Do you think Gronk can be a difference maker this season enough to warrant the pick?

Thanks a lot in advance.

I much prefer Dillon on my roster than Gronk, but its clear you are in need of a TE. But Gronk may or not be helpful this year. Plus his age is now a factor. Why not draft Dillon and trade someone else for a TE, like a Hayden Hurst.

I find it hard to believe Gronk will sit out a year, lose all that weight and come back to a significant role. I thought he was loving life without the wear and tear and pain of playing and/or recovering from surgeries/injuries? Hard pass for me. Throw the dice on Dillon

Gronk will be a buddy for Brady in the locker room and huddle, possibly a red zone threat. I doubt he plays a big role every down.

  • These guys have you covered. Draft Dillon and try to trade for a better TE.

  • Is Blake Jarwin available? I think he’s underrated and could be there in round 3.

Donald Parham? He did great in the XFL and is behind the TE made of glass in LAC. Worth taking a shot in the 3rd or 4th.

I agree - I’ve always thought Gronk would be nothing more than a guy who comes in during Red Zone packages, wouldn’t be surprised if he only came in during goal line packages. He could probably wind up with 5 or so goal line td’s, not too shabby but I’m not playing him as a starter. Bucs have Howard and Brate on the roster, they’re not going anywhere.

Agree. Hurst is a great target, could be top ten te. Jarwin is a play many don't see yet. Thomas SHOULD be solid, I have him as well. Burton I'd drop.

Gronk has been more of a 3rd rounder in these drafts. Take Dillon

At pick 1.9 who are ppl liking more - Vaughn or Dillon?

Vaughn is currently being ranked about 32 for RBs, Dillon at 54.

Vaughn by quite a margin I think

  • I can see cases for both.

If 1 RB is your missing piece for a run at the title this year - Vaughn

    If you aren’t a contender - Dillon

I think Vaughn will have a better 2020 season, but Dillon will have a better career.
