    Where is Lamar? Thoughts?

  • Not sure if Lamar is top 10 yet but he's sure as hell on his way.

  • No way he’s in the 2nd round IMO. Running QBs normally have their best statistical season their first year as a starter.

That said, if he's not in the first round, I think he's damn near close to the second round, talent wise.

Correct me if I am wrong. But, I am pretty sure that no running QB has ever won a Super Bowl.

Jackson can SAY he doesn't want to run. But that assertion doesn't pass the eye test for me.

I still don't believe in him and probably won't unless he wins a Super Bowl... IN THE NFL!

Does he really need to win a SB to win you fantasy leagues though?

Of course not. But, does show that defenses adjust.

  • I’ll take Mahomes before Lamar.
  • Where does Aaron Jones fall on everyone’s list?

If Lamar Jackson decides to be on the cover of Madden then Mahomes stays the #1 Fantasy QB without question :)
Personally I'd rather have Mahomes in Dynasty. Lamar needs to show me he can do what he is doing in back 2 back seasons. I also question what kind of QB he would be if he got an injury and had to play with less mobility. Like an injured ankle from a lineman stepping on it etc. We have seen Mahomes can play QB on one leg. I just don't trust trust Lamar to stay healthy for multiple seasons the way he runs and dont know how effective he would be if his run threat was limited. So for me in 2020 Dynasty Mahomes would be #1
Winning Fantasy Football Championships is easier without pants on.

I love Lamar and am in first place in one redraft league cuz of his. Bless him. In my dynasty league, however I made a rather poor trade but I stand by it. He is a mobile QB. He will get hurt inevitably. For the majority of this season most of his points are from his rushing - if he gets hurt and that negatively impacts his rushing stats he’ll be exposed as a very run of the mill passer. Mahomes is not so rushing dependent so I’d have to side with him.

QBs rarely repeat as top 12 overall players.

so much Lamar dislike and doubt in this forum. Is it because he is not on your team? Did you pick Baker Mayfield and Josh Allen instead?..Damn! make me understand.

Only QB people have listed above him in this post is Mahomes. Odds are Lamar will not finish as a top 12 overall player next season as it USUALLY doesn't happen for QBs. Could it happen? Yes. Would I bet big money on it? No. Questioning what kind of QB he will be if he gets an ankle or knee injury for example is a valid question. He doesnt look to slide which increases odds he will get injured. Just BC someone rather have Mahomes then Lamar doesn't mean we dislike or doubt him.

I love Lamar in redraft. Bless him. I like him for this year. In dynasty? For next year? I’m not confident he can make it two full years without getting banged up. Take Cam Newton. He was MVP in 2015. How many years has he 1) played a full season or 2) had an elite year since 2015. At some point, after Lamar has gotten his extension and the team starts wanting to protect their investment and make him rush less and less to protect him he’ll morph into a quasi-poor man’s version of Cam, in my opinion.
  • I would take Lamar as my top QB for the next 3 years without hesitation. That being said, I never reach for a QB, so I probably won't get him. However, if I could trade for him, I would give up any QB in the league for him.

Talking about how you need to see how Lamar plays injured is irrelevant for fantasy. I care about stuff like when placing offseason bets in Vegas, but, not Fantasy. What you should talk about is how he has not been injured since 2015 when he missed 1 game due to ankle injury when he was a freshman. Durability is there even with the QB runs.

Mahomes was not good with his ankle injury. The best thing that happened to him was the kneecap injury to keep him off his ankle.

I do not have Lamar ranked ahead of Mahomes but Lamar is right after him.

He passes my eye test. Fantasy football owners care about stats, not Superbowl. I hope he does win it all but, the doubters will continue.

You said you need to see him injured and that is fine...I'm just saying no player looks good with limited mobility due to injury. Injuries happen but, we can't let the potential for injury stop us from picking him in the top 20. Nobody has mentioned his great durability since college, because his style of play is concerning for many doubters.

  • Compared to pocket passers like brady that has played 18 season and just broke 1k.

I never said I need to see him injured. I said I question what kind of QB he would be if he got injured. In dynasty I have him as QB #2 behind Mahomes. My points of everything ive said in this thread is the reasons I would not take him above Mahomes though.
