Vernon Hargreaves?

Thoughts on Hargreaves being dropped and then picked up by HOU? I own him in a 14-man IDP redraft.

He is the #15 CB in my league, the #40 DB. Hold, drop, what?

Texans claimed CB Vernon Hargreaves off waivers from Buccaneers.
On the surface, Bill O'Brien likely thinks he's found a gem in a 24-year-old with a first-round pedigree. Reality is Hargreaves was torched for 41/591/2 and 10.5 yards per target before getting benched in Week 10 and had made just 10 appearances coming into the year as the No. 11 overall pick in '16. Hargreaves joins Johnathan Joseph, Bradley Roby, Gareon Conley, and Lonnie Johnson among the Texans' struggling secondary as the front office continues throwing mud against the wall in hopes it sticks. Houston was the only team to put in a waiver claim on Hargreaves.

  • He is ranked on avg around number 20 in my leagues. Think he is a hold for now to see how Hou plays him.
List your IDP players and scoring..More tackle heavy or int/sack heavy?

He was dropped for a reason. Although being a former 1st round draft pick he has talent. Maybe a change of scenery will do him good. Guess he could be a hold depending what options you have. I wouldn't go starting him right out the gate.

I had him and then dropped him after being released... change of scenery can always be good but if you have the spot available, worth a hold imo

As this is redraft, if you can get a player like Kwiatkoski (if you haven't gotten him yet as he is Danny T's replacement and a hot WW pick this week) I would rather have him or guys like Drue Tranquill, Khari Willis or Jon Bostic. As your league does not require CB's think the guys listed, if available, have more upside and are in position to give consistent numbers (assuming Willis has truly taken the job for good from Geathers, think he has)
  • He will get a lot thrown his way- which is how you score in IDP if he can make any plays

If he plays and plays well..... In leagues with the same scoring as Wickerkat, Hargreaves is not in the top 100 overall ppg scoring for defensive players. as there is no requirement for starting CB's in his league there is no positional advantage having Hargreaves. ILB and SS's will outscore him week in and week out the majority of the time is my thinking. As you know CB is a more volatile scoring position week to week, the guys playing in the middle of the defense get many more opportunities on average.
  • Thanks, guys. I did pick up Kwiatkoski to replace Trevathan. Guess I'll hold Hargreaves for now.

Always thought he was overrated coming out of UF and a bad pick by Bucs. Amari Cooper owns him.
