|1.03||Ezekiel Elliott||RB||DAL||As said with LBell, if I had the 1.01 in let's say three drafts, I would grab Zeke with one of those 1.01 selections. I wouldn't put all my eggs in one basket, but in one league I would absolutely take the chance. That gives you a feel for the mix of risk and reward that comes along with him in 2018.|
Ezekiel Elliott was huge two seasons ago, during his rookie year… he ran for 1631 yards and 15TDs, and he pulled in 32 passes for 363 yards and 1TD. The dude had seven 100-yard games. Zeke entered 2018 with all kinds of drama attached to his name. Suspension delay after suspension delay, it was a mess, and he missed six games after eventually failing to outrun the league-awarded six-game punishment. Despite the drama, Zeke still managed 983 rushing yards and 7TDs on the ground, while adding 26/269/2TDs through the air. On 16 games, that pace would have put him at 1572 rushing yards and 11TDs, with 41 receptions for 430 yards and 3TDs. The numbers don’t lie, and given his 25-played games in the NFL, history is trying to tell us that a 1600/14-15TD rushing season is on the way (with 40/400/2-4TDs through the air). That makes him 1.01 worthy. I fortunately have the 1.01 in a couple leagues this year, and while I won’t draft him in all leagues (so that I do not put all my eggs in one basket), I can tell you that I absolutely plan to draft Ezekiel Elliott at 1.01 in one of those leagues.
Smitty’s Take: The Jaguars should have Leonard Fournette (hamstring, questionable) back in Week 3 against the Titans. He is tagged questionable, but as of this post, he’s fully expected to start Week 3. He faces a poor Titans’ rushing defense, so he should be in for a big day. The guy is the only BUST prediction on the Bold Predictions List this year, as every other prediction is a ‘good’ one. I just doubt his ability to stay healthy, ESPECIALLY at his lesser weight (Something most all other sources considered a good thing). He is an aggressive rusher, an extremely aggressive rusher, and his injury history is real. He has always struggled to stay healthy, and even though I love his production when on the field, and even though I call him a RB1 per start, he has so much risk it isn’t worth the cost. So, it’s my advice to sell-high if the guy bounces back big in Week 3 against the Titans. Great buy-low candidates will be determined after Week 3, as any struggling studs will be solid buy-low targets… current examples this week would have been Ezekiel Elliott, David Johnson and Kareem Hunt.
