smitty fantasy football advice

As we head into Week 3, here are a list of Wide Receivers to Buy-Low. Below you will find both redraft and dynasty analysis.

AJ Green (WR/CIN)

Redraft & Dynasty

AJ Green is off to a quiet start so far this fantasy football season. His first two lines were 5/63/0TDs and 3/45/1TD. He is still capable of finishing as a top five fantasy wide receiver in 2015, so if you can buy-low, I strongly recommend acquiring the receiver. If your team is struggling through the first two weeks of the season, and let’s say you own a receiver ranked higher than Green, consider some kind of ‘downgrade’ into AJ Green (downgrade is in quotes for a reason) if it means you can somehow get a Ameer Abdullah or let’s say another wide receiver upgrade (like going from Golden Tate to Mike Evans). That is the kind of ‘upgrade’ I’d recommend if someone was looking to mix things up in Week 3 on.

Brandin Cooks (WR/CIN)

Redraft & Dynasty

We are only two weeks into the 2015 fantasy football season, and Drew Brees has struggled quite a bit thus far. I think the Saints will make some changes entering Weeks 3 and 4, and I see Brandin Cooks being a great buy-low right now. He still has fantasy WR1-type appeal, even if low-end, yet he can be had right now at very low-end fantasy WR2-type value (if not lower in some knee-jerk reacting circles). Buy-low!

Mike Evans (WR/TB)

Redraft & Dynasty

Mike Evans has low-end fantasy WR1 upside, but his no-catch Week 2, mixed with him missing Week 1 entirely, will have his owners freaking out in both redraft and dynasty. Not so much in dynasty, but maybe his owner is trying to win some cash now. Take a stab in dynasty, but absolutely test the trade waters in redraft. Buy as a low-end fantasy WR2, or lower if possible (depending on the league). There are risks, sure, but the risks are minimal considering the ceiling value here.

Alshon Jeffery (WR/CHI)

Redraft & Dynasty

He isn’t healthy, just like Mike Evans above, but if the price is right, again, why not buy? It’s all about risk vs. reward, and if he has low-end fantasy WR1 upside, but costs fantasy WR2-type value, buy!

Martavis Bryant (WR/PIT)

Redraft & Dynasty

While many predicted that Markus Wheaton would rise up as Martavius Bryant served out his four-game suspension, he has remained on our 2015 Breakout list. Nothing has changed, and no one is filling the void that Bryant has left. Buy-low, as this kid is insanely-talented and could dance with high-end fantasy WR2-type players on a weekly basis (with occasional bigger games that compare to players even more valuable than that).

Josh Gordon (WR/CLE)

Dynasty Only
