Smitty’s Take: The Saints signed RB Terrance West today, a move to help deal with Mark Ingram’s four-game suspension. I’m not so sure West will have a decent role in New Orleans. The truth is, Ingram’s absence will probably just spell more touches for Alvin Kamara. Some reports, just after the Ingram news broke last month, suggested 14-15 touches per game could be Kamara’s new workload; however, I think he could see a handful more touches than that in Weeks 1-4. I could see Kamara averaging 20 total touches to start the year, which means we could see stat lines like the following in Weeks 1-4: 80-90 rushing yards, 5-6 receptions, 55-60 receiving yards and .8 total TDs. While I don’t expect that pace to hold all season long, he could be playing at that pace until Ingram returns (which is a ‘pace’ of 1300+ rushing yards, 88 receptions, 900 receiving yards and 13 total TDs).
