Smitty’s Take: According to several reports, Patriots RB Sony Michel will undergo a procedure on his knee after hurting the knee during Wednesday’s training camp practice. There have been a few takes on this across a few different newswires today. One suggests that it could cost him regular-season time, another report is predicting that Michel will be good for Week 1. I think it’s a bit much to expect Michel to be ready for Week 1. It’s hard enough for a rookie to get up to speed by Week 1, so being out of action from now until kickoff (best-case scenario) is going to make an early rise out of Michel even harder to imagine. Rex Burkhead now sees increased value if you ask us, and he already had a good lock on the early-down work according to most sources out there, so we see Burkhead as the rusher to own in New England to start the 2018 fantasy football season. That can change fast, and both James White and Mike Gillislee still could make a splash in the coming weeks, so this is a situation to watch. From a dynasty perspective, there is reason to be concerned about Michel, a player who entered the 2018 NFL Draft with long-term knee worries.
