Smitty’s Take: Kirk Cousins was awesome during his Vikings preseason opener, passing 4-of-4 for 42 yards and 1TD (a touchdown strike to Stefon Diggs, who pulled in 3 receptions for 35 yards and 1TD). The Vikings are going to be extremely tough to beat in 2018, and a Super Bowl appearance would shock me zero percent. Not only do they have one of the best group of hands in the NFL (Dalvin Cook, Stefon Diggs, Adam Thielen, and Kyle Rudolph, who we predict, with Cousins under center, will have a top 3-5TE season in 2018), but they also have to really important backups in both Trevor Siemian and Roc Thomas. Siemian, if called upon, would manage the offense efficiently, and he proved a bit of that with his 165 yards and 2TDs in the opener. Roc Thomas is more of an unknown sleeper that has insane skills… he rushed for 29 yards and pulled in 3 passes for 102 yards and 2TDs. Thomas is the kind of guy that could not make the team, or be the #2 back and somehow become that crazy stash everyone wishes they had down the road (hopefully Cook stays healthy, though). On the other side of the football, Denver has their potential future QB running as their third-string in Chad Kelly. He had 177 yards and 2TDs (and 1INT) in this one, and Phillip Lindsay, like Roc Thomas, is an exciting backup in Denver. Lindsay was actually in my top 5 rookie RBs back in January, but an injury and no combine invite had him fall off the map. Watch this kid, and consider him a potential ‘down the road’ handcuff to Royce Freeman (the guy we’ve had, for near 8 months now, ranked as our #3 rookie rusher from the entire 2018 rookie running back class).
Ok, down to the last two (sending a new email because Tony wanted off the chain)
