News: Josh Gordon to miss time? Dez an option for CLE?

Smitty’s Take: According to a few reports today, Browns GM John Dorsey has stated that he “absolutely” expects WR Josh Gordon to play this season. Gordon recently announced that he would miss the start of training camp; he is reportedly taking some time to address mental health and anxiety issues. “It could mean many things, a month, three, 10 days, 30 days,” said the Browns GM. “Let’s see what it is.” This is not great news. It’s not devastating news, yet, but it does suggest that there could be a greater chance than originally thought that the receiver might not be ready for Week 1 (or worse). There are a few rumors that Cleveland could show interest in Dez Bryant. That could get shot down quickly, or have some truth to it, so curb expectations there, but it would make sense. We will surely update you on that. Gordon not being ready to start the year would mean more targets for Jarvis Landry, which could be a good thing for his value, as that Cleveland passing attack will likely not generate enough passes to fully feed both Gordon and Landry, at least not to the tune of elite fantasy WR1 production. Stay tuned for more on all of these players.
