Smitty’s Take: ESPN’s Adam Schefter is reporting that first-rounder Josh Allen will start the Bills’ third preseason game against the Bengals. It would be shocking if he didn’t. Frankly, it will be shocking if he isn’t the Week 1 starter. We have been screaming ‘elite’ for this kid since February or March, and I think people are starting to see the upside here. He arguably has as strong an arm as anyone already in the NFL, rivaling Aaron Rodgers, and he has looked brilliant (for a rookie) in the pocket so far this preseason. He had one bad scramble where he threw the ball away poorly, but that was in week 1. His accuracy is on point, and his footwork is veteran-like. We’ve been saying it for half a year now… this kid has ‘elite’ written all over him.
