News: Jerick McKinnon tears ACL; done for season

Smitty’s Take: Well, horrible news… 49ers RB Jerick McKinnon tore his ACL during Saturday’s practice; he is done for the year. Non-contact injuries like this usually are not good, and all signs point to this being a torn ACL. “He just made a cut on air and no one was around him and just went down. It looked awkward. We’re concerned about it, but we don’t have an MRI done, so we don’t know for sure,” coach Kyle Shanahan said. Many are predicting that Alfred Morris will be turned to as the favorite to start the season, but Matt Breida was the guy most loved months ago. This situation is not good and we expect a relatively unproductive RBBC moving forward, unless of course the 49ers make a bold trade or sign DeMarco Murray or something. Stay tuned for any news on either Morris or Breida, or free agency signing or trade.
