NEWS: According to numerous reports, disgruntled Texans’ QB Deshaun Watson recently tweeted, “I was on 2 then I took it to 10.”
FANTASY TAKE: The thinking here by most reporting on this is that Watson is referencing his ‘frustration level’ with the 1-10 scale… that he is now at the maxed-out high of 10 out of 10 vs previously being at a 2 out of 10. Expect the trade demands by Watson to build, but that doesn’t mean it will for sure happen. The cap hit that the Texans would take trading Watson is around $21 million, so the deal would have to be insanely beneficial to the Texans to go down in order to account for that massive financial hit. The deal couldn’t just be a near even swap, it literally has to be near even + account for a $21 million cap hit. That’s insane. Is it impossible, though? No, because this is the Texans, a team that surrendered DeAndre Hopkins in exchange for David Johnson. Teams likely interested are the 49ers (cutting Jimmy G would save roughly 24 million), Patriots, Jets and Panthers (among others).
Let’s Talk Dynasty: Stay tuned, as this will get more interesting by the day. Watson in SF would be quite interesting, especially for the values of Kittle and Aiyuk.. and he’d be a great fit in Carolina, as Christian McCaffrey and DJ Moore would be even harder to game plan against. Imagine CMC with such a stud QB!
