Smitty’s Take: A few sources today reported on this, that it’s expected that Eagles QB Carson Wentz (ACL) will sit out the entire preseason. This would be smart, and it sounds like it’s going to be an extremely-close call whether he plays Week 1. Most signs point to him playing, and he has looked good moving around in camp. If you plan to start him Week 1, back him up (maybe Nick Foles) in case things go south, but things appear to be moving in the right direction for a Week 1 start. DeSahun Watson and Carson Wentz are the future at the quarterback position in fantasy football. Both have 40TD capability, and while Wentz could fall short of those expectations this year, by this time next year, he and Watson might rewrite where QBs get drafted in the coming 5-10 years.

I have been saying this for months now…. He’s not ready, he doesn’t look ready. His only real action is very limited and he’s “showing” quick happy feet, but mostly its his healthy leg doing the real work while his repaired leg is just lightly tap dancing on the grass…..

I love Wentz long term and think he’s possibly the next Peyton Manning, just the best pocket passer in the league for a decade to come. I’m laying off this year in my redrafts. He’ll be slow to start, and I somewhat expect Foles to handle a few games to open the season. No QB controversy, just ingury protection of the franchise investment in #2 overall pick

You could end up being right, but still a good month to go. Being safe with him would be the smart play for Philly.
