As we head into the first full slate of NFL games for the 217 2017 season here are some things of note for IDP owners.

DE Aaron Donald won’t play this week. He will likely be on a snap count for a few games.

Whether Detroit Lion DE Ziggy Ansah sees action this week or not, he missed all of the preseason games, which makes him a very risky start. He is likely on a snap count.

ILB Deone Bucannon is out for Week 1. This means that rookie ILB Haason Reddick will start and should see plenty of snaps. Upgrade TE Eric Ebron.

Rookie MLB Jaylon Smith will start against the Giants. He will be on the snap count and in a normal progression that should see him get around 40 of the potential 60 snaps on defense.

Fifth-round rookie MLB Marquel Lee is set to start for the Raiders against the Titans. He would be a risky start as he struggled in coverage against tight ends and running backs. Upgrade TE Delanie Walker.

Pittsburgh Steeler OLB Bud Dupree banged up his shoulder in practice on Thursday. In big-play leagues, owners want to monitor his availability. He could be a game time decision.

CB E.J. Gaines is set to start at cornerback for the Buffalo Bills opposite Tre’Davious White. Keep an eye on him, if he regains the previous form of his rookie year he could be anywhere from a depth addition to a DB2. Gaines was recently graded by Pro Football Focus as its top cornerback during the preseason.

FS Jimmy Ward may not start this Sunday for the 49ers. Jaquiski Tartt would start in Ward’s place and be a viable option in leagues that differentiate between cornerbacks and safeties.

CB Vontae Davis, the Colts’ best defensive back, has been ruled out for Week 1 and is expected to miss a few weeks. If you’re having trouble setting your lineup because of the Bucs- Dolphins being canceled, you can upgrade the Rams receivers.

Rookie CB Adoree Jackson will start in place of LaShaun Sims for the Tennessee Titans. Bump up the Raider receivers.

CB Kyle Fuller is expected to start for the Bears in place of CB Prince Amukamara.
