It’s becoming pretty clear that Corey Coleman is on his way to becoming a special talent. Words like “dominating” and “fantastic” and “impressive” are consistently being used to describe his practices and scrimmage performances. One beat writer called him “dynamic” and “scintillating” after Friday night’s scrimmage, where he pulled in three deep passes from Robert Griffin III. Coleman was my early favorite out of this year’s rookie wide receiver class, and while I admittedly have bounced around a bit with he and Laquon Treadwell, it’s time to acknowledge that Coleman is flashing too much brilliance right now to ignore. With Josh Gordon still with the Browns, and with the long-term QB situation still questionable, Cleveland isn’t the most ideal place for an emerging stud WR. That said, RG3 does have some bounce-back appeal, and Josh Gordon is far from reliable, nor is he a lock to even remain with the team after this season. Check out this footage on Coleman and you should see a potential fantasy football WR1:
After watching that footage, do you notice how dominate he is within the space around him? The guy just has a natural ability to dominate both space and players in that space. He is quick, efficient and fluid. Coach Huge Jackson continues to talk the kid up, recently calling him “a fantastic player”. There are questions surrounding his long-term QB situation, and Gordon is still capable of being a fantasy WR1 himself… but, I love Coleman’s skill set and upside. I think we might be looking at a top 5-10 fantasy WR of the future if he can just get consistent QB play (something RG3 is trying to bounce-back into.
